The Challenge

In today’s global marketplace, the security of a company, on many different levels, is paramount. A multi-national retail and consumer organisation, with a footprint in major city centers around the world, was facing a labyrinth of security challenges. With a complex array of tenants and occupants, the company was increasingly concerned about the threats facing its people, properties, and third-party partners, not to mention the potential damage to its brand and reputation.

The organisation had limited engagement with authorities, and the information they received was not relevant, out of date, or lacked the kind of analysis that could help decision makers manage security response. This gap in intelligence left the company vulnerable on multiple fronts.

The Solution

Combining cutting-edge technology with industry leading expertise, the Risk Intelligence Center (RIC) designed a tailored intelligence service for the company.

The  new service was built on a foundation of round-the-clock real-time monitoring, alerting systems designed to provide early warnings, and daily updates to provide ongoing assurance and maintain situational awareness.

Monthly intelligence summaries (INTSUMs) were also provided to provide management with a tactical overview of incidents, threats and risks, and analysis of the security and threat landscape. The  RIC also established a Request For Intelligence (RFI) service to provide specific intelligence outputs such as reports and investigations, and enhanced monitoring during major events. These are the solutions that were implemented:

  • Real-Time Monitoring for threats and incidents, 24/7, 365 days of the year.
  • Alerting: Alerting to notify responders and decision makers of early warning indicators and in the event of an incident occurring.
  • Daily Updates: To provide ongoing assurance and maintain situational awareness.
  • Monthly intelligence summaries (INTSUMs): To provide management with a tactical overview of incidents, threats and risks, and analysis of the security and threat landscape.
  • Request For Intelligence (RFI):Providing specific intelligence outputs such as reports and investigations, and enhanced monitoring during major events.

The Outcome

Since consulting the RIC and getting actionable intelligence in place, the organisation now has a security strategy that does more than just protect—it has provided decision makers with advantage and confidence when making crucial business decisions, helping maximise their return on investment in security and resilience.

By providing notification of potential threats ahead of events, the RIC enabled the customer to avoid the cost of disruption, including safeguarding staff and customers, and mitigating reputational impact. And in the event of an incident occurring, the RIC provided overwatch to support incident and crisis management, enabling the business to respond and recover more effectively. Additionally, by understanding the threats to the organisation, the RIC has supported security risk management, enabling the customer to address the risks that matter to them most.

With a combination of cutting edge technology and intelligence expertise with Securitas’ six protective services, the RIC delivered an industry-leading intelligence-led security service to the customer. And with increased security, and fewer business interruptions, the customer was able to focus on their core business, with added value and peace of mind.
